Controlling the Reflection of the Likes of Sunlight to Give Glass an Anti-Glare Effect



A chemical-based surface treatment (chemical AG process) is applied directly to the surface of glass to form microasperities and give the glass an anti-glare effect under the likes of sunlight. NSC also produces AR (anti-reflection) samples by sputtering film deposition.

Features of the AG (Anti-Glare) Process

NSC's AG process involves applying a chemical-based surface treatment (chemical AG process) directly to the surface of glass to form microasperities and gives the glass an anti-glare effect under the likes of sunlight. Haze can be controlled within a range of 1.5% to 95% by adjusting the amount of chemical used in the process.

Durability

The AG process is directly applied to the surface of glass to produce a product with high durability relative to glass with coatings and films.(Pencil hardness of at least 9H)

The AG process produces cover glass with the beauty and high-class feeling that are unique to glass.

Surface Strength

A feature of the chemical AG process is that it does not generate any of the minute flaws (micro-cracks) that are characteristic of mechanical AG processes and therefore maintains the high surface strength of the glass.

Applicable to High-Definition Displays

The AG process suppresses sparkling light, making it ideal for the fabrication of the cover glass of high-definition displays.

Excellent Writing Touch with Stylus

A person using a stylus to write on glass treated with the AG process will experience the same sensation as they would when using a pencil.

Available Sizes

The AG process can be applied to glass substrates with a size of up to 730 mm × 920 mm. NSC plans to enhance the process in the future such that it can be applied to glass substrates measuring up to 1300 mm × 1300 mm.

Optional Processes

Optional processes including the AR process, chemical strengthening (as postprocessing), curving, and printing are also available.
